hmm ecsta xs or star spec II?

Guys,

Looking to put together a "track only" wheel tire combo. I'm going to be using 17x8 and 18x 9.5. Looks like ecsta xs and dunlop direzza II are both available in similar sizing and pricing is pretty close.. maybe $50 difference for all 4 tires.

Preferences? I know the DII is a brand new tire, had a great review on tirerack over the older star spec which was a great tire.

Well, the obvious question is whether you want a street tire like the ZII or XS, or an R compound tire like the NT-01. The R comps will give better traction on the track, but won't last as long and may be more expensive. The street tires will last longer and may be less expensive, but won't grip as well on the track.

I haven't driven the ZII yet. The big knock against the XS was always its wet traction, but if you're not going to use them on a wet track, that may not be important to you.
